TITLE CHANCE
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini takes his team to Anfield in order to defend the Premier league title chances, as even a draw could favour his team.
However, the Chilean has revealed that he does not plan to sit back on this advantage they have in the title race and says that attack is the best form of defence. City are in a comfortable position with only five matches left in the season. This is because they have two more games in hand over Liverpool, who won just four points ahead of them in that race.
Chelsea are also involved in the title race, but after their qualification to the Champions League semifinals, they are unlikely to have priorities elsewhere. This leaves Pellegrini fighting against Liverpool for the title. A defeat against Liverpool at Anfield will significantly change the comfortable position City find themselves in right now. Brendan Rodgers’ team have been the surprise package this campaign, as they have been able to challenge for the title after finishing seventh last season. They have failed to win only two out of the 16 matches at home.
However, they will be looking to get their 10th straight win this weekend. Despite this strong array of features, Pellegrini says that his team will continue to attack just as they have done throughout this season.
"Maybe I am wrong but I always think in the same as a manger - if you play to draw, you will lose. So we are going to play to win. Of course, after the game, if we couldn't win the game and we draw it's a good result, but we are not going to play against Liverpool thinking we must draw. We don't know to play in that way. I am very happy for football. For attractive football, creative football,” said Pellegrini.
