WINNING THOUGHTS
The manager of Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini, has said that his team will go into the Champions League match against Bayern Munich thinking about a win.
City started its Champions League campaign in style by defeating Viktoria Plzen by 3-0 last month. They consolidated that win with another superb performance in the derby match against Manchester United, but, in their last Premier League game against Aston Villa, the Citizens suffered an unexpected defeat by 2-3 which took them one position down in the points table.
Pellegrini knows how important it is for his side to come up with an improved performance in the game against Bayern which will be played on Wednesday at Etihad Stadium.
Talking to the reporters ahead of that game, Pellegrini said, “We have made a good start to our campaign by beating Viktoria Plzen, but, we need to keep going. That’s very important.”
“The team that we will face on our home ground tomorrow is a world class team. They are the toughest side in our group. We will have to play football of high level to beat them.”
“We won’t go into the game with a draw in our mind. We will go out there thinking about 3 points. A positive mindset is very important.”
“We will have to play our best football throughout the game. Any opportunity we give them, they will pounce on that. They are one of the best teams in the world.”
Meanwhile, according to the reports, two vital City players i.e. Sergio Aguero and David Silva have recovered from their respective injuries and both of them are ready to feature in the match against Bayern.
Pellegrini didn’t say anything about Aguero’s fitness in the press conference, but, he confirmed that Silva would feature at least for a short period of time.
